All pool owners should be protecting their pool with a cover, and I am here to suggest that cover should be of a liquid variety.
Pool covers can quite literally save your pool. The cost to maintain a pool continues to rise, legislation frequently becomes more strict, the environment screams louder each day and, lets face it, pools are work. Anything that you can do that will ensure maintaining your pool is cheaper, easier and more sustainable will lead to a happier ending.
I’ve arrange for a very short POP Quiz for you. Read the following 5 statements and keep track of your score (1 point for every “YES” answer, 0 points for every “NO”).
A) Using a plastic pool cover is not my idea of fun.
B) Overnight, I lose enough heat to make swimming in the morning very unappealing
C) My swimming pool heating bills tend to give me heart palpitations
D) Water is precious, and I don’t want to waste it.
E) I don’t want to spend the cash to get a custom fit plastic pool blanket, or to replace a plastic cover whenever it wears out
How many points did you get? Read on for your full diagnosis:
1 – 5 Points: Jump aboard the “LPC Express”, you need a Liquid Pool Cover YESTERDAY!
Many people understand the benefits of using a pool cover — keep the heat in, save water, reduce your heating costs — but just can’t be bothered with actually using one. Plastic blankets are fantastic inventions but, in practice, they can be just a bit difficult. The idea of putting a cover on every time you get out of the pool and pulling it off before you jump in is daunting for many pool owners. That is why liquid pool covers have become all the rage, so to speak. They are on your pool 24/7, even while you are swimming! Talk about around the clock coverage.
Heat, water and energy are all significantly effected by the process of evaporation. Every time you look out your window and see steam billowing off your pool, you can imagine your hard earned dollars just floating away, and taking your nice warm pool water with them! If you could cut back on half of that evaporative loss, you can save a great deal of water, heat and, of course, money. A liquid pool cover like Heatsavr or Ecosavr can do that for you, hassle-free.
Finally, whether you have money to burn or not, I am certain you would rather spend it on nice dinners, fancy cars, shiny shoes and the likes…not a pool cover. There really isn’t much excitement in telling your friends you got this great big new blanket for your pool! So instead, opt for a liquid pool cover. The investment for a backyard typically works out to less than $0.50 a day. About one sip of your Starbucks latte.
0 Points: You’re doing something right. I don’t know how you managed it, but you either have the perfect utopian pool environment or a unique attraction to spending money. Perhaps you have a fetish for heavy pieces of plastic or maybe you work for a plastic pool cover manufacturer? If you did not answer “YES” to a single question, than I hate to say it, but a liquid pool cover is probably just not for you.
For the majority of my readers out there, I am almost certain you scored at least one point. That means you might be kicking yourself for not using a liquid pool cover sooner. Hindsight is always 20/20. The important point is that you now have enough information to see the future…and it is a much happier place when you own a liquid pool cover.
