Solar covers are great for summer time use and to extend your pool season. The problem with solar covers is, they are bulky and fragile. It’s like a big heavy-duty piece of bubble wrap. If not stored properly, you can have a damaged cover with holes and even a rotting cover that just falls apart. Here are some tips to properly store your solar cover over the winter
- Keep your cover out of the sun
- Keep your cover away from pool chemicals and any other chemicals that may oxidize the cover
- Store your solar cover in a cool place
- Buy yourself a heavy-duty Rubbermaid-like container or trash can and store your cover in there. This will keep mice and insects from eating your cover.
- Make sure you cover is cleaned before you store it.
If you follow these tips, your cover should last you many seasons. These same tips can also be applied to storing your winter cover in the spring.
