Once you get that green/blue/brown/black semi-disposable cover off your pool, what are you suppose to do with it. I have been told that people just fold it up and stick it in the shed along with the rest of the “pool crap.” I have also been told that people just throw the cover away. These are viable options, but in no way are they the easy, cost effective and best way to store your winter pool cover.
I worked at a pool company that sold a product called Stow-Away® from Bioguard®. It’s used to clean and store your winter pool cover during the seasons that you’re not using it. Here is what Bioguard’s website says:
If you use a cover during the off-season months, you’ll need to protect and store it once it’s removed. This product is a cleaner/deodorizer that allows the pool cover to be stored wet and still remain protected.
- Cleans and deodorizes covers to prepare them for storage
- Eliminates unpleasant odors on pool covers
- Prevents covers from sticking together when folded
- Extends the life of most swimming pool covers
- Allows covers to be stored wet
- May be used to clean and store other pool-side items
It’s very easy and simple to use and I highly recommend it. Take the cover off the pool and lay it out in an area in your yard. Pour Stow-Away® on the pool cover and scrub the whole pool cover with a large brush. Then you can fold up your pool cover to store it away.
I recommend that you buy yourself a plastic container to store your pool cover in. This way, it can remain wet and no critters will be able to get into it.
If you have anymore questions, please feel free to ask in the comments section below. Use the Bioguard® store locator to find the nearest location to purchase this cleaner.
