We are attending the Atlantic City Pool and Spa show next week and I’ve been getting emails from vendors asking us to stop by their respective booths. For the most part, I’ve been haphazardly going through these emails, not really paying attention. One email however got my attention. It was for PORTOPONG, which is a inflatable beer pong table for your swimming pool.

Beer Pong In Your Swimming Pool?

As an avid beer drinking and pong enthusiast, I was intrigued to say the least. If there is one thing I hate about beer pong it’s the dirtiness of it all.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with beer pong, it’s six cups filled with beer on each side of a table and the goal is to throw a ping pong ball into the cups. If you make it, the other team has to drink the beer. There are of course more rules than this, and rules can depend on region and styles, but that’s the basic gist.

The Cons About Pong

The worst part about playing beer pong, as I said before, is the dirtiness. What I mean is, you are throwing ping-pong balls (with your dirty hands) into another player’s cup, which then they have to drink. Like dipping your fingers in a friend’s beer. Gross!

Also, the ball can go anywhere, and depending on where you’re playing, tends to get covered in grass, dirt, or (in my case) dog hair. All of the “crap” can end up in the red Solo cup of beer you’re about to drink, if the other team is halfway decent.

The Glory of Sanitation

The good part about taking this experience to the pool is the sanitation. I bet the good folks at PORTOPONG don’t use this as a sales pitch! Because you’ll hopefully be playing in sanitized water, it’s like having a water cup all around you for washing the ball off. This makes the game of beer pong much more hygienic.

So, if you play beer pong, or would like to start playing, I think this is a great item. I highly recommend! Let us know what YOU think in the comments below.
