Crusing Through Pool Care The Wise Way
"Anyone who's ever tried to make his or her way through a typical instruction manual knows humor and user-friendliness are usually in rare supply.....Wise's folksy manner has a way of simplifying what can be a rather dense subject matter." Aqua Magazine

When it comes to cleaning your pool, I always recommend you buy an automatic pool cleaner. Not for the hard cleaning jobs, just for your daily maintenance. It keeps your pool clean all season long, unless you have any major problems such as algae or staining.
If you are going to invest in an automatic pool cleaner, I HIGHLY recommend you look into a robotic pool cleaner.
A robotic pool cleaner doesn’t use your filter system to run. Instead, it plugs into an electrical outlet and cleans the pool all by itself.
Aqua Products (makers of the Aquabot and Pool Rover) was one of the first companies to market this type of pool cleaner, and since then, have been improving their products.
Aqua Products has introduced a new robotic pool cleaner to the market called the Eco-Jet. The Eco-Jet is a robotic pool cleaner (much like an Aquabot) that claims to be more Eco-Friendly than its’ predecessors. After reading some of the reviews on this product, it seems to be great. They claim it works just like an Aquabot, except it has an issue cleaning the water line in your pool that the Aquabot claims to do. But what I really wanted to know was, what makes this cleaner so “Eco-Friendly?”
What Makes the EcoJet “Eco-Friendly?”
According to various websites I Googled, the EcoJet uses less power to achieve the same effiencly of cleaning the previous Aquabots did. Unfortunately, this was all I could find out about the new cleaner.
I went to AquaProducts website, but couldn’t find any mention of the cleaner. However, I did come across this site, which I assume is the product’s main website.
When describing the new cleaner and it’s energy efficiency, they compare it to traditional pool cleaners such as the suction-side and pressure-side cleaners. I can understand why they wouldn’t want to compare the specs to their other cleaners. Here is what this website claims
Water Conservation
Every cleaner is equipped with an on-board industrial strength pump motor(s) that produces anywhere from 4,000 up to 10,000 gallons of water filtration per hour. This water forces the various water layers within the pool to circulate and mix. The result of this action is that the warmer top layer mixes with the cooler lower layer, which translates into lesser evaporation. In short, our cleaners contribute to water supplies worldwide saving millions of gallons of water each year and to the consumers with drastic reductions on their water bills.
Energy Efficiency
Aqua Products has taken the concept of the pool’s external pump / filter system and incorporated it into a system that is located in the pool. Mimicking the operation of a main pool filter, the Aqua Products cleaners vacuum in water, including dirt and debris, using their own internal vacuum pump, then filter the water via their own internal filtration system and finally expel the water providing circulation. In essence, Aqua Products cleaners are mobile filtration / circulation systems that also provide exceptional surface cleaning.
FEWER CHEMICALS
Every cleaner is equipped with an on-board industrial strength pump motor(s) that produces anywhere from 4,000 up to 10,000 gallons of water filtration per hour. This water forces the various water layers within the pool to circulate and mix. The result of this action is that the chemically depleted warmer top layer mixes with the cooler chemically rich lower layer, which translates into lesser evaporation and savings of otherwise lost chemicals that bond to the water molecules.
Additionally, this mixing force re-circulates chemicals that have fallen due to gravity and have become suspended in the cooler lower layer. This circulation results in a more accurate water test near the surface and an overall more uniform chemical mix. This allows pool owners to consume as much as 30% fewer chemicals, saving them a small fortune every season and offers bathers a much safer and healthier swimming environment since the amount of chemicals in the water is greatly reduced and better distributed.
