Are you looking for a very long-term investment in your backyard? Do you plan on living in your current residence for a long time? If so, then yes, fiberglass pools are definitely worth the investment over vinyl liner and concrete poured pools. There are many reasons why you would want to buy a fiberglass pool over any of the others. There are also many reasons why you wouldn’t, for one, fiberglass pools are generally more expensive when you compare sizes to other types of inground pools. And with a fiberglass pool you may be limited to sizes and styles because fiberglass pools are molded in a factory and shipped to your house as a whole.

Fiberglass pools while being more expensive also provide a lot of benefits that other pools don’t. The installation of a fiberglass pool is much faster because as we mentioned earlier they are molded in a factory and shipped to your house. A whole is dug and the pool is placed in the whole. Of course there is more to it than that but you get the jist. Fiberglass pools are sealed at the factory so you get a smooth surface that water cannot penetrate unlike a concrete pool, which over time can become rough and needs to be acid washed and painted. Also concrete pools tend to interact with your water chemistry, which a fiberglass pool does not so this will save you money on some chemicals.

While a fiberglass pool can be costly upfront it will really save you money in the long run. Unlike a concrete pool fiberglass pools do not crack and spilt. On the west coast where earthquakes can be a problem fiberglass pools are particularly popular because they can bend with the earth. With a concrete pool they just tend to crack and constantly need to be patched, scrubbed and cleaned. Another great thing about fiberglass pools are they actually can come with you if you decide to move although this doesn’t happen often but if you wanted to you could. A concrete pool and vinyl pool cannot be moved from house to house. However if this is decided then you will need to get a new whole re-dug and concrete of course.
