Get Now1. Depending on how it was closed (winterized) remove the air pillow and deflate it. Take off the thermal spa cover or tarp, again depending on how it was closed. If you used a tarp make sure you clean it, fold it and store it in a safe place so it will extend the life of your cover.
2. Once you have removed the cover and you can see inside, remove any plugs that may be blocking any holes and if there is any dirt or water, use a shop vac and get the dirt and water out of your tub. Before refilling your tub you should clean it, local pool companies and our website offer cleaning supplies but you can also use standard household cleaners such as Windex or 409 (before using these products contact your hot tub spa manufacture to make sure these products are safe to use.)
3. If the spa was closed properly or professionally, there should be a number of fittings in your spa pack that have been left unscrewed or open. You want to make sure these are all re-connected and tightened before you attempt to fill the spa with water. Also make sure any DRAIN PLUGS that were removed are properly re-inserted. Visually inspect the spa pump, filter container, valves and any plumbing pipes you can easily see in and around the equipment area. If all looks OK, then simply tighten all quick disconnect fittings that may have been unscrewed. Check the front and top of the pump - in and out of the filter - in and out of the heater - and check to see that the air blower is still connected to its pipe as well. Make sure any drain valves are closed. Make sure that any SLICE VALVES are in the OPEN, or UP position to ensure adequate water flow to the system.
4. Now it is time to fill your spa. We recommend removing your spa filters and placing your filling hose inside the filter well, this way as your spa fills with water so does the pipes. Once you spa is completely filled, add the recommended dosage of sanitizer to your spa depending on the size and what you use. Sanitizer being chlorine, bromine or Baquaspa.
5. Run your spa for about 2 hours straight and then drain your spa completely. The reason we tell you to do this is because the sanitized water will help clean out the pipes in your hot tub spa.
6. Then once your spa is completely drained, refill your spa with fresh water and get your water tested and properly balance and sanitize your water. It’s that easy.
