Tips To Remove Stains From Your Swimming Pool
The very first thing you need to do to start to solve this problem is to figure out what is causing the stain. You should get your pool water tested by a pool professional or at your local pool store and also ask them to test for any metals. Stains can be cause by a number of things, the most common however is minerals.
If metals are present in your water then that is probably what is causing the staining. At this point you need to remove the metals from your water by purchasing a metal remover chemical and the correct amount of it. What these chemicals do is combine the metals to make them larger so that your filter will have a better chance of filtering them out of your swimming pool. Once this is done for the next week or until the stain is completely gone you should keep brushing at the stain. This will help loosen the metals into the water so that the chemical and your filter can filter them out.
If it’s a stain cause by something natural, say a leaf sat on the bottom of your pool too long, you can use this handy trick. Take a sock and fill it with pH Minus powder (you can find this at your local pool store) and rub at the stain.
This should help it lift right off. Also if you are dealing with white pieces in your pool turning yellow , just pour diluted pool shock over the area. The chlorine from the shock should lift the stains right out by bleaching it. (Do not do this unless the pieces you are trying to clean are white, anything else will bleach out)
