How To Test Your Hot Tub

Your first test (which in some cases is the first color on your test strips is your sanitizer. When you test you water make sure you have enough sanitizer (Bromine, Chlorine or Baquaspa) make sure it is at the appropriate level.

1. If you don’t already own them, buy spa test strips. (Pool test strips will work too)

2. Your first test (which in some cases is the first color on your test strips is your sanitizer. When you test you water make sure you have enough sanitizer (Bromine, Chlorine or Baquaspa) make sure it’s at the appropriate level.

3. Your second test is pH. If your pH is low then it will eat up your sanitizer fast. Also you water is more acidic and therefore will eat up plastic and metal. So make sure that it’s at an appropriate level (Ideal pH 7.2 – 7.6)

4. Your third test is your alkalinity. If you alkalinity is low then your pH is probably low. Alkalinity stabilizes your pH so that is doesn’t fluctuate as much.

5. These are the three most important test in your spa. You can also check for Calcium and metals but remember to drain and refill your spa ever 3 to 4 months.
