Do you keep your hot tub outdoors? Well if you have a hot tub cover sometimes that cover can become water logged, heavy and retain a mildew smell. This happens because of stagnate water that comes from rain and condensation from within your hot tub.

Here is what to do to minimize or eliminate the mildew smell on your hot tub cover.

1.    On a dry sunny day, take your hot tub cover off your spa and set it up like a house on a flat surface. Basically make your hot tub cover look like this “^”.

2.    If your hot tub cover has zippers, unzipper them to let the dry air into the foam inserts within your hot tub cover.

3.    Use can use a variety of cleaners to help get rid of the smell but we suggest you try Lysol spray. It’s a disinfectant so it will help destroy the mildew.

4.    Let your cover stand like this for several hours to help really dry it out. It will become lighter to more you leave it out.

Quick Tip: Do this several times a month to help keep your hot tub cover looking and feeling brand new. There are also cleaners out there specifically for hot tub covers that protect your spa cover from UV rays and sun damage.

Quick Tip #2: To help prolong the life of your hot tub cover, use another cheaper tarp or cover to drape over it during wet days & nights.
