Today I will share some common spa problems and quick and easy ways to fix them. You wouldn’t want your spa to come alive and destroy your house would you?

CLOUDY WATER

There are two good ways I found to clear cloudy water. 1. Use a good spa water clarifier chemical. The only one that I know is good and works well is Bioguard’s Water Clarifier. 2. Shock the heck out of your spa. Depending on what you use you can have a chlorine shock, a bromine shock or a non-chlorine shock. Anyway you choose that best fits your tub will work. Be sure however to run your spa a lot to get the shock circulating in your water.

CHALKY, WHITE SCALE DEPOSITS

(calcium build up) With this problem there are also only two ways to cure it. The first thing I would do is check the pH and alkalinity of your spa water 1. Check your pH and Alkalinity. If they are high, then there is your problem. Bring them down using pH minus and wipe the scale off the sides of your wall into the water. The lower pH will dissolve. 2. If that doesn’t work, then it is probably a calcium buildup and there is no such thing as a calcium decreaser chemical. So unfortueatly you will have to drain your hot tub.

CLOUDY GREEN WATER

This is the biggest and scariest problem of them all but it can be an easy fix. This is caused by low sanitation levels. Make sure there is plenty of chlorine or bromine (or whatever you use to sanitize your tub) in the water. Then you should shock it and run it for at least 4 hours. If it doesn’t  clear up, and you are in a hurry and need the spa for a party, DRAIN IT!!!
