Hot Tub Yoga Infographic

Yoga is a very popular form of exercise that involves stretching, balance, building strength, and flexibility. This is achieved through various poses.

In the past few years, there has been an increase in popularity of Bikram Yoga – otherwise known as “hot yoga.” This is where you practice 26 poses in a room that’s 105 F (40 C) and has a humidity of 40%. Crazy, right?

With hot tub yoga, the warm water will help increase flexibility and makes it easier to stretch – not to mention the lack of sweat you can feel pouring from your body.

NOTE: Before practicing, check with your primary care physician if you have any health issues. Pregnant women should not practice hot tub yoga. Drink plenty of water and stop if you feel dizzy, lightheaded, or sick.

I’ve heard of pool yoga, but was unsure how this could be accomplished in hot tubs. A very interesting and informational post!

There are some folks doing hot tub yoga on YouTube and there is even a woman named Susan of TubYoga.com who is coming out with a hot tub yoga DVD in a few months.

This might be the next big thing, since I believe that hot yoga or Bikram is a little dangerous.

Great article on Hot tub Yoga! Love the graphics as I am such a visual learner. Good Job! susan@tubyoga.com
P.S. Idea for article- about how the increase in your body temp releases endorphins, the same feel good chemical our body releases when we exercise!

Never thought about this, but certainly a good idea in the winter. The first thought that popped in my head was, “What about shoes?” Sometimes it gets slippery in a hot tub; I’m thinking those practical “beach socks” like you can get at Target during the summer.

@Susan – Thanks for the article idea. I will shoot you an email so we can talk more about it. Glad you liked the infographic :-)

@Lisa – Wearing water shoes is probably a good idea, even though you normally don’ wear shoes during yoga. It might be safer when performing the crab pose.
