How To Clean A Spa Cover

Spa covers are great for many things. For one they are a great safety feature especially if you have children. It also keeps debris out of the spa when it’s not in use and it keeps the heat in so your heater doesn’t run as much. It’s a great investment and it’s something every spa owner should have. The problem with these covers are that they are bulky and can get heavy. Here are a few tips to keeping your spa cover light and long-lasting

Use Armor All

There are plenty of cleaners out there on the market but the best one I have found is Armor All. It not only puts a protection on your cover it will also keep it shining and looking brand new.

Dry It

Every nice weekend you can, take the cover off your spa and unzip the zippers on the end of the cover and let it dry out. This will keep your spa cover nice and light. Covers can become water logged and when they get water logged they get heavy. By minimizing the amount of water the cover soaks up by drying it once in a while, you can ensure the lightness of your spa cover.

Clean It

Your spa cover is going to soak up all the moisture from inside your spa which can become stagnate in the foam inserts in your cover. Use a Clorox based cleaner to wipe down the inside of your cover to minimize stagnate water build up. Also if you are starting to get a fowl smell, you can spray down your cover with Lysol which will also kill bacteria.
