The 6 Best Pool Chemical Calculator Apps in 2026
With just a few taps, you can get the pool and hot tub water test results on your smartphone or tablet. Here are our updated recommendations for the best pool and spa chemical calculator apps. Plus, apps to control your swimming pool or hot tub.
1. The Pool Care App by Swim University

- Price: 7-Day Free Trial (then only $49 per year)
- Compatibility: iOS and Android
Full Disclosure: This is our app to help you test, treat, and track your pool.
The Pool Care App is one of the nicest-looking pool chemical calculators. It’s also incredibly user-friendly. This app is easy to use: enter your water test results and get the proper amount of chemicals you need to add to your swimming pool.
One of the best parts of the app is that it doesn’t try to sell you chemicals. In fact, it lets you choose which chemicals you want to add and does all the calculations for you.
The biggest downside to our app is that you can’t track pool maintenance tasks, although that is something we’re adding to the app in 2026.
If you want to try the app, download it here!
2. Pooli App

- Price: FREE (with limited features) or $109 a year.
- Compatibility: iOS and Android
We think Pooli is a great pool chemical calculator and pool maintenance app. It has a built-in test strip scanner (using your phone’s camera) that delivers instant water test results based on pool volume. But the scanner doesn’t always work and requires a specific type of test strip. You also have to upgrade your subscription to use that feature.
Get your chlorine, pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, and cyanuric acid (CYA or stabilizer) readings instantly. And it provides the most affordable solutions, chemicals, and equipment.
I think the biggest downside to this app is its complexity. While I think it looks okay, it’s just not very user-friendly and can be a bit confusing to use, or at least to get started using. Once you figure everything out and get started using it, it is a really good app. Download the app here!
3. PoolMath App by The TroubleFreePool Forum

- Price: $7.99 Premium Subscription In-App Purchase
- Compatibility: iOS and Android
A complex pool water chemistry tracking app made by the TroubleFreePool forum. Track all your pool water tests, and it’ll tell you exactly how much of each chemical you need to add.
The biggest downside with this app is that it follows the trouble-free pool philosophy. And it doesn’t include any education. In order to learn their philosophy, you will have to visit their website and find out the information there.
It’s simply a water chemistry calculator that’s very sterile. Plus, you pay an annual subscription to use the app, and people say that they have trouble storing tests. Just a word of caution when it comes to storing past tests.
It also doesn’t include any way to track and store pool maintenance tasks, and this is a real big downside to the app. Especially for a paid app. Download the app now!
4. Clorox Pool App

- Price: FREE
- Compatibility: iOS and Android
Pool owners can use this free, easy-to-use app to scan test strips to provide expert water test analysis. You can also use the app to troubleshoot pool problems, get personalized recommendations, and shop for Clorox products.
However, since the app is free, that usually means YOU are the product. While this app is good, it does try to sell you Clorox chemicals, so just be aware of the type of information that it’s providing. Knowing that its sole purpose, because it’s free, is to try to sell you on chemicals, maybe even chemicals you don’t need. Download the app here!
5. Test to Swim (HTH Pool App)

- Price: FREE
- Compatibility: iOS and Android
Similar to the Clorox app, the Test to Swim app by HTH Pool Chemicals allows you to scan one of their test strips. You do need to buy an HTH branded test strip to use the app, although the app is free.
The reason the app is free is that after you scan the test strip, it’ll tell you the reading of that test. You can also enter the test results manually, but it will recommend HTH Chemicals only.
Even though it will give you what you need to do to your pool, it’s always going to recommend using HTH Chemicals, so you don’t have chemical flexibility like you have with apps like Pool Math, Pooli, and our Pool Care app. You can download the app here.
6. Orenda Pool App

- Price: FREE
- Compatibility: iOS and Android
The Orenda app is built by Orenda Technologies, now owned by HASA, a major pool chemical manufacturer. Like the Clorox Pool app or the HTH app, it’s developed by a chemical company. However, the app doesn’t force you to buy Orenda products to use it, but you’ll find their product pages and links inside.
The biggest difference between Orenda and most other pool apps is that it uses the Langelier Saturation Index (LSI) instead of standard range-based chemistry (which is what we use for The Pool Care App) or Calcium Saturation Index (CSI), which is what’s recommended by Pooli and PoolMath.
LSI and CSI are the same measurements of calcium saturation in the water. But LSI is a simplified, less precise version of CSI.
The Orenda app is best suited for pool service professionals and experienced pool owners who want precise chemical dosing. If you’re not familiar with LSI-based water balancing, the calculator can feel confusing at first.
You’ll still need to test your water with test strips, a liquid test kit, or a digital reader since the app is a calculator and not a testing device. You can download it here.
