1. When you first buy pool chemicals from the store, make sure they don't stay in your car for a long period of time. As soon as you get home from the store, get the chemicals out of your car and into storage. Also while driving, if you are transporting any liquid chemicals, be sure to brace them so they do not tip over while driving.
2. Store swimming pool chemicals in a cool and dry place.
3. This should be a no brainer, but DO NOT smoke near pool chemicals.
4. Pool sanitizers and oxidizer (i.e. chlorine and shock) are corrosive. Keep these chemicals away from metals including bikes, cars and anything that has metal in it.
5. Keep sanitizers and oxidizers separate
6. Keep all chemicals away from heat sources or open flames, as some chemicals are flammable.
7. DO NOT store liquid pool chemicals above sanitizers or oxidizers. You don't want leakage to occur spilling on the sanitizers and oxidizers.
8. DO NOT keep your pool chemicals near household cleaners, bleach, paint, car washing materials, gas or paints. These chemicals do not mix well together. I could cause a harsh chemical reaction that you want to avoid at all cost.
